How to set up Cameras, Control your Arlo security system with one, easy-to-use app. Use the Arlo Secure App to protect your home, inside and out, with Arlo’s award-winning home security system, video doorbells, cameras, and floodlight.

This article applies to Arlo Ultra, Arlo Ultra 2, 3, Arlo Pro 4, and Wire-Free series cameras. To connect and install other Arlo devices, visit the links under: Set up other Arlo devices

For the best results use the Arlo Secure App for Arlo .

An Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is required for Arlo Pro 3, Arlo Ultra, and Arlo Ultra 2 cameras. To check compatibility, visit: Arlo SmartHub and Base Station Compatibility

An Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is optional for Arlo Pro 4 and Arlo Essential wire-free series cameras. For more information, visit: What are the benefits of using an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station?

To set up your camera using a SmartHub or Base Station:

Note: Arlo Ultra, Ultra 2, and Pro 3 must be installed using an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station.

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Add New Device.
3.Tap Cameras.
4.Tap Ultra, Pro, or Essential.
5.Select your camera model.
6.Select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station.

Note: If an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is not installed, tap Add New SmartHub.

Plug the into your SmartHub or Base Station and tap Continue.

Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet, make sure the lights on the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station turn on, and tap Continue.

If you have trouble connecting the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station, visit: Arlo can’t discover my SmartHub or Base Station during installation; what do I do?

7.Insert the battery into the camera, and tap Continue.
8.Arlo will begin looking for your camera.

Note: Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Arlo SmartHub or Base Station during the process. Avoid placing the camera within close proximity to other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process.
If the search is taking too long, tap Manually Pair Device. Press the Sync button on the camera and tap Continue.

9.Name your and tap Continue.
10.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
11.Tap Finish.

To set up Arlo Pro 4 or Arlo Essential wire-free cameras directly to your Wi-Fi:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap Add New Device.
3.Tap Cameras.
4.Tap Pro or Essential.
5.Select your camera.
6.Select Connect without SmartHub, tap Continue.
7.Check your mobile device settings to ensure you are connected to a 2.4 GHz network.
8.Return to the Arlo Secure App and tap Continue.
9.Enter your Wi-Fi SSID (network name) and password,
10.Tap Continue.
11.For Arlo Essential Wire-Free cameras:
• Press and hold the Sync button on the bottom of the camera for two seconds.
13.For Arlo Pro 4:
• Insert the battery into the camera and tap Continue.
• When the LED on the front of the camera is blinking blue, tap Continue.
• If the LED is not blinking blue, tap LED is not blinking blue.
• Press and hold the Sync button on the inside of the camera and tap Continue.
• When the LED begins blinking blue, tap Continue.
14.Hold the QR code about four to six inches in front of your Arlo camera.
15.When you hear a chime, tap Continue. If you are having trouble, visit: My Arlo camera will not scan the QR code during setup
16.Arlo will begin looking for your camera.

Note: Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Wi-Fi router during the setup process. Avoid placing the camera within close proximity to other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process.

17.Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
18.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
19.Tap Finish.

Arlo SecureLink is a technology that uses the sub-GHz wireless communication to communicate between Arlo devices. The Arlo Security Keypad Sensor Hub uses Arlo SecureLink to talk with devices such as the Arlo All-in-One Sensor and the Arlo Pro 5S Camera.

To set up an Arlo camera with an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station:

Note: Arlo Ultra, Arlo Ultra 2, and Arlo Pro 3 must use an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station.

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
Note: Make sure the correct Location where you want to add the camera is selected. For more information, visit: How do I switch my Location in the Arlo Secure App?
3.Tap .
4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Ultra, Pro, or Essential.
6.Select your camera.
7.Select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station.
Note: If an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is not installed, tap Add New SmartHub.
Plug the Ethernet Cable into your Arlo SmartHub or Base Station and tap Continue.
Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet, make sure the LEDs on the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station turn on, and tap Continue.
If you have trouble connecting the SmartHub or Base Station, visit: Arlo can’t discover my SmartHub or Base Station during installation; what do I do?
8.Insert the battery into the camera, and tap Continue.
Arlo will begin looking for your camera.
Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Arlo SmartHub or Base Station during the setup process.

To set up Arlo Pro 4, Arlo Pro 5S, or Arlo Essential wire-free camera directly to your Wi-Fi router:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
3.Tap .
4.Tap Pro or Essential.
5.Select your camera.
6.Select Connect without SmartHub and tap Continue.
7.Check your mobile device settings to ensure you are connected to a 2.4 GHz network.
Note: Arlo Pro 5S cameras work with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands after installation is complete on 2.4 GHz. For more information, visit: How does the Arlo Pro 5S Camera use 5GHz Wi-Fi networks?
8.Return to the Arlo Secure App and tap Continue.
9.Enter your Wi-Fi SSID (Network Name) and Password.
10.Tap Continue.
11.For Arlo Essential wire-free cameras:
Press and hold the Sync button on the bottom of the camera for two seconds.
12.For Arlo Pro 4 and Arlo Pro 5S:
Insert the battery into the camera and tap Continue.
When the LED on the front of the camera is blinking blue, tap Continue.
If the LED is not blinking blue, tap LED is not blinking blue.
Press and hold the Sync button on the inside of the camera and tap Continue.
When the LED begins blinking blue, tap Continue.
13.Hold the QR code about four to six inches in front of your Arlo camera.
14.When you hear a chime, tap Continue.
Note: If you are having trouble, visit: My Arlo camera will not scan the QR code during setup
15.Arlo will begin looking for your camera.
Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Wi-Fi router during the setup process.
Avoid placing the camera within close proximity to other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process.
16.Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
17.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
18.Tap Finish.

How to set up the Arlo Pro and Pro 2 Camera – Arlo Secure 4.0

The following instructions apply to setting up the Arlo Pro or Arlo Pro 2 camera. To setup other Arlo camera models, visit: How to set up Arlo Cameras – Arlo Secure 4.0

To complete the Arlo Pro or Arlo Pro 2 setup process, you will need an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station. Install the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station first before installing your cameras. For more information, visit: How do I connect my Arlo SmartHub or Base Station to the Internet? – Arlo Secure 4.0

If you are setting up multiple cameras, only sync one camera at a time.

To set up an Arlo Pro or Pro 2 Camera:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
Note: Make sure the correct Location where you want to add the device is selected. For more information, visit: How do I switch my Location in the Arlo Secure App?
3.Tap .
4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Pro.
6.Tap Pro 2 or Pro.
7.Select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station. If only one Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is installed, tap Continue when Arlo has detected the device.
Note: If an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station is not installed, tap Add New SmartHub.
Plug the Ethernet Cable into your Arlo SmartHub or Base Station and tap Continue.
Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet, make sure the LEDs on the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station illuminate, and tap Continue.
If you have trouble connecting the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station, visit: Arlo can’t discover my SmartHub or Base Station during installation; what do I do?
8.Insert the battery into the camera, and tap Continue.
Unlock the battery compartment by pressing the latch button and pulling back gently.
Insert the battery as shown and close the battery door.
9.Press the Sync button on the camera for about two seconds and then release the button.
10.When the LED on the camera is blinking Blue, tap Continue.
11.Arlo will begin looking for your camera.
Note: Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Arlo SmartHub or Base Station during the setup process. Avoid placing the camera within close proximity to other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process.
If the search is taking too long, tap Manually Pair Device. Press the Sync button on the camera and tap Continue.
12.Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
13.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
14.Tap Finish.

How to set up the Arlo Wire-Free Camera – Arlo Secure 4.0

The following instructions apply to setting up the original Arlo Wire-Free Camera (VMC3030). To setup other Arlo camera models, visit: How to set up Arlo Cameras – Arlo Secure 4.0

• Note: To complete the VMC3030 setup process, you will need an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station. If you are setting up multiple cameras, only sync one camera at a time.

To set up the Arlo Wire-Free Camera:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
3.Tap .
4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Others.
6.Tap Arlo.
7.Select an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station or tap Continue if only one Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station is installed.
Note: If an Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station is not installed, tap Add New Base Station.
Plug the Ethernet Cable into your Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station and tap Continue.
Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet, make sure the LEDs on the Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station illuminate, and tap Continue.
If you have trouble connecting the Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station, visit: Arlo can’t discover my SmartHub or Base Station during installation; what do I do?
8.Insert the batteries into the camera:

Unlock the battery compartment by sliding and holding the latch.

Insert the batteries as shown and close the battery door.

9.Tap Continue.
10.Press the SYNC button on the camera for approximately two seconds and then release the button.

11.When the LED on the camera is blinking Blue, tap Continue.

12.Arlo will begin looking for your camera.
Note: Make sure the camera is within 3 to 6 feet of your Arlo SmartHub or Arlo Base Station during the setup process. Avoid placing the camera within close proximity to other Wi-Fi devices to avoid signal interference during the setup process.

13.Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
14.Tap Finish.

How to set up the Arlo Essential – Arlo Secure 4.0

To set up the Arlo Essential Indoor Camera directly to your Wi-Fi router:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.

4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Essential.
6.Tap Essential Indoor Camera.
7.Review the Meet your Arlo Essential Indoor Camera screen and tap Continue.
8.Find a location to place the camera that is near an outlet and within range of your Wi-Fi network.
9.Tap Continue.
10.Select Connect without SmartHub and tap Continue.
11.Check your mobile device settings to ensure you are connected to a 2.4 GHz network.
12.Return to the Arlo Secure App and tap Continue.
13.Enter your Wi-Fi SSID (network name) and Password.
14.Tap Continue.
15.Use the provided cable and power adapter to connect to an outlet, then plug the micro-USB portion of the cable into your camera.
16.Once the Privacy Shield on the camera opens, tap Continue.
17.Press the Sync button on the camera.
18.When the LED on the front of the camera is flashing blue, tap Continue.
19.Hold the QR code about four to six inches in front of your Arlo camera.
When you hear a chime, tap Continue.
If you are having trouble, visit: My Arlo camera will not scan the QR code during setup
20.Arlo will begin looking for your camera.
After the camera is found, name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
21.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.

To set up the Arlo Essential Indoor Camera with an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
Note: Make sure the correct Location where you want to add the device is selected. For more information, visit: How do I switch my Location in the Arlo Secure App?
3.Tap .
4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Essential.
6.Tap Essential Indoor Camera.
7.Review the Meet your Arlo Essential Indoor Camera screen and tap Continue.
8.Find a location to place the camera that is near an outlet and within range of your Wi-Fi network.
9.Tap Continue.
10.Tap Continue to add your device to the Arlo SmartHub or Base Station.
11.Use the provided cable and power adapter to connect to an outlet, then plug the micro-USB portion of the cable into your camera.
12.Once the Privacy Shield on the camera opens, tap Continue.
13.Press the Sync button on the camera.
14.When the LED on the front of the camera is flashing blue, tap Continue.
15.Follow the in-app instructions to complete the setup.

How do I set up my 2 Camera? – Arlo Secure 4.0

This article is for the  Arlo Secure App experience with Feed. If you have the Arlo Secure App experience with Library, visit: How do I set up my Arlo Go 2 Camera?

Arlo Go 2 gives you the flexibility of using 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or LTE for connectivity. You can also use LTE as a backup in case your Wi-Fi internet connection is interrupted.

Note: When using both 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and LTE mode, Wi-Fi will always be the primary mode of connection.

Arlo Go 2 works with the same Arlo Secure App as all other Arlo cameras and devices. However, to connect your Go 2 camera to the mobile network, an activated SIM card with a mobile data plan must be inserted into the camera.

Note: We recommend that you charge the battery before mounting your camera. Your camera LED indicator light will blink amber if your battery needs charging. The indoor charging cable that came with your camera works with most power adapters.

To set up your Arlo Go 2 camera using LTE only:

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
Note: Make sure the correct Location where you want to add the device is selected. For more information, visit: How do I switch my Location in the Arlo Secure App?
3.Tap .
4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Go 2.
6.Tap Continue.
7.Follow the instructions for installing your SIM card as shown on the Arlo Secure App and tap Continue.

The LED in front of your camera should blink blue. If the LED is not blinking blue, press the Sync button on the inside of your camera.
8.Tap Continue.
9.Hold the QR code in the Arlo Secure App, 4 to 6 inches in front of your camera.
You should hear a chime from your Arlo device. If you didn’t hear a chime, visit: My Arlo camera will not scan the QR code during setup
10.Tap Continue.
11.Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
12.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
13.Tap Finish.

To set up your Arlo Go 2 camera with Wi-Fi:

Note: Before setting up your Arlo Go 2, make sure that your mobile device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. For more information, visit: How do I connect my mobile device to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network to set up my Arlo camera?

1.Launch the Arlo Secure App.
2.Tap Devices.
Note: Make sure the correct Location where you want to add the device is selected. For more information, visit: How do I switch my Location in the Arlo Secure App?
3.Tap .
4.Tap Cameras.
5.Tap Go 2.
6.Tap Set Up with Wi-Fi.
7.Follow the instructions for installing your SIM card as shown in the Arlo Secure App and tap Continue.
Note: You may skip this step if you are not using a SIM card.
The LED in front of your camera should blink blue. If the LED is not blinking blue, press the Sync button on the inside of your camera.
8.Tap Continue.
9.Verify your mobile device is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and tap Continue.
10.Enter your Wi-Fi credentials, then tap Continue.
11.Hold the QR code in the Arlo Secure App, 4 to 6 inches in front of your camera.
You should hear a chime from your Arlo device. If you didn’t hear a chime, visit: My Arlo camera will not scan the QR code during setup
12.Tap Continue.
13.Name your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
14.Position your Arlo camera and tap Continue.
15.Tap Finish.

If the Arlo Go 2 camera is installed too far from your Wi-Fi router, it may cause the battery to drain quicker. For more information, visit: How do I control whether my Go 2 Camera connects to Mobile or Wi-Fi?
